Edgewood Community,
Edgewood City Schools would like to welcome Jeff Madden as Superintendent beginning next August.
Trenton, Ohio (May 4, 2026) – The Edgewood City Schools Board of Education has officially named Jeff Madden as
the next Superintendent of Edgewood City Schools, effective for the 2026-2027 school year.
Madden currently serves as Assistant Superintendent at Fairborn City Schools and brings a broad range of
experience across district leadership, including student services, curriculum, business operations, and strategic
planning. His leadership experience spans elementary, middle, and high school levels, positioning him to lead the
district with both operational experience and a strong understanding of student needs.
A 1998 graduate of Edgewood High School, Madden’s return to the district reflects both a professional milestone
and a personal commitment to the community that shaped him. “Twenty-seven years ago, I walked across the stage at Edgewood High School with dreams yet to be defined,” said Madden. “Today, I’m asking for the privilege to return home, not as the student I once was, but as a leader shaped by the values this community instilled in me. I’m ready to give back to the place that gave me everything, and I can think of no greater honor than serving the community that made me who I am.”
This leadership transition comes as current Superintendent Curtis Philpot prepares to step into a new role as
Director of Business Operations and Facilities. Philpot will continue serving the district in this capacity to support
ongoing operations and ensure a smooth transition of leadership.“Serving as Edgewood’s Superintendent has been the highlight of Curtis’ career, and his willingness to step into a different role to support the district speaks to his character and his commitment to our students, staff, and community,” said Vice President Marc Messerschmitt.
“Taking on the Superintendent role was no small feat, and Curtis truly rose to the occasion, guiding the district with
dedication and innovation during a pivotal time,” said Amy R. Ashcraft, President of the Edgewood City Schools
Board of Education.“His leadership and vision have left a lasting impact, and we are grateful that he will continue
to support the district in this new role.”
“Jeff understands our community and our district, and we believe he is the right person at the right time to lead
Edgewood forward,” said Messerschmitt. Ashcraft also expressed confidence in Madden’s leadership as he returns to Edgewood.
“Jeff’s journey in education has taken him far and wide since leaving Edgewood, and we are fortunate to have him
return with a wealth of experience and a passion for our schools,” said Ashcraft. “With Curtis continuing to support the district and Jeff stepping into this role, we are confident in the direction ahead and excited for the next chapter of Edgewood City Schools.”
Philpot will remain in his current role through the 2025-2026 school year to support the transition.
