Edgewood City Schools Remembers September 11th

Posted Date: 09/11/26 (02:25 PM)

A patriotic graphic for the 9/11 25th Anniversary features a stylized American flag, the Twin Towers skyline, and the text Never Forget.

As we recognize 25 years since the events of September 11th we wanted to take a few moments to share with you what our district is doing to remember the day and educate our students on its importance.

In Our Community: Thank You

First we would like to thank all of the active duty military, veterans, police, fire, first responders and medical professionals in our community.  Thank you for your tireless work to serve those around you.

In The Classroom

Throughout the district there are various activities and lessons for students to learn about the events of September 11th.  Each building made an announcement this morning and a variety of ceremonies will/have taken place in the buildings.  Some students made cards, staff and students were encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue and a number of lessons were done in social studies classes.  Below is just a sample from our Middle School:

“We have students looking at primary and secondary accounts of the event, comparing and contrasting the events of 9/11 with other historical events like Pearl Harbor, interviewing friends or family members about what they remember from that day, and so many more engaging lessons.”

The Edgewood High School band also performed today at the Trenton ceremony for September 11th.

Friday Night Lights

Prior to our Varsity Football game there will be a Military Family Tailgate at the picnic area by EIS from 5-6pm.

Following this, we will recognize Military Families in the Community before the Football game and Fasttrax will be skydiving into the stadium with an American Flag.
