Dear Parents,
We are fast approaching the last day of school and would like to remind you to please pick up any medication that your child has been taking at school. It is our district’s policy that students may not transport medicine to and from school, and an adult must be responsible for the medication due to safety reasons. If you have already counted out the medications and know that there will be none left, you will not need to come to the clinic. Any medications left at school after May 28, 2021 will be destroyed and discarded. We thank you for your cooperation and support in this very important matter.
You will find a medication permit for the 2021-2022 school year on our school district's website. This form must be completed each year for prescription and non-prescription medications by both parent and physician. The medication form can be found under the Administration tab and click on Health Services.
REMINDERS FOR NEXT YEAR:
All medications must be received in the school office directly from a parent or responsible adult; and controlled substances, such as Ritalin or Adderall, must be counted at school when designated staff receive the medication. The parent or adult should remain present to verify the “pill count.”
All medications must be in the original container properly labeled with the student’s name. Please never send medications to school in envelopes, plastic baggies, back packs, or in your child’s pockets. These medications will not be given.
A separate medication permit must be completed for each medication that the student will be taking signed by both the parent and physician.
Please share a copy of Edgewood’s school medication permit with your child’s physician so that it will be on file for future use. Please call your child’s school if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Beth Brchwell, R.N., B.S.N.

There was a false alarm at Edgewood Middle School this afternoon.

EMS REMINDER: 6th Grade will be taking the O S T math test Monday and Tuesday. 8th will be testing on Wednesday and Thursday. Don't forget to bring headphones. They need to be at school before 7:25. All buses will run at their regularly scheduled time. EMS will operate on a 2-hour delay each day for students NOT TAKING the O S T. In order for a student to take advantage of the 2-hour delay start time, they will need to secure their own ride to school.

Good Morning Edgewood Middle School Families,
We have had calls about the start time changing for the testing day today. We did not change the start time for first bell. If you are bringing your students in on a two hour delay schedule that is still fine. If 6th or 8th graders come in before 9:25 they will stay in the gymnasium or auditorium until the test is over.
Have a great day!

REMINDER: 7th Grade Students will be taking the O S T Math Test Thursday and Friday. They need to be at school before 7:25. All buses will run at their regularly scheduled time. EMS will operate on a 2-hour delay each day for students NOT TAKING the O S T. In order for a student to take advantage of the 2-hour delay start time, they will need to secure their own ride to school.

Edgewood Board of Education will be having a Special Board meeting on Wednesday, April 21. The meeting will start at 4:30 PM and be held at the High School in room #127. The meeting's purpose is to discuss the contracts for the Superintendent and Treasurer and other personnel matters. The board will move into Executive Session immediately after the roll call. No action will be taken.

Due to an anticipated larger crowd than normal, the Edgewood Board of Education meeting on April 26 has been moved to the Middle School Auditorium. The Board meeting will begin at 6 PM.
If you plan on attending, please continue to follow the COVID-19 protocols.

EMS Families of 6th grade Remote Students,
Tomorrow morning when you pick up your student after testing, please wait until 9:45 to come to the school. This will alleviate the congestion in traffic and wait time to sign your student out for the day. Don't forget to being a photo ID.

Reminder: All 6th grade students (this includes Remote Learners) will be testing tomorrow and Wednesday. Bring your headphones or ear buds. We will start testing promptly at 7:25. Please make sure your child is here at before 7:25. Transportation for all students will be provided at normal pick up times. All 7th and 8th grade will be following a 2-hour late arrival plan. They will not be going to class until 9:30. 7th and 8th graders can arrive to school late on Tuesday and Wednesday. They must be here by 9:30 in order to be counted as "on time". If you choose to have your 7th or 8th grader come late to school, you will need to provide transportation.

Dear EMS Parents/Guardians,
We are gearing up for our yearly Ohio State Testing. As we have in the previous years, Edgewood Middle School will operate on a 2-hour delay each day for students NOT TAKING the OST. For example, on a 6th grade testing day, 7th and 8th grade students will be on a 2- hour delay schedule and not required to be at school until 9:30. In order for a student to take advantage of the 2-hour delay start time, they will need to secure their own ride to school. All buses will run at their regularly scheduled time on testing days. All students riding a bus will be kept in the gymnasium/auditorium during testing. If a student does not ride the bus, but arrives at school before 9:30, they will also be kept in the gymnasium/auditorium during testing time.
Remote students will be taking the Ohio State Tests on the same day as face to face, but will take them in the cafeteria spaced appropriately. Remote students will need to arrive at school by 7:10 a.m., and sign in at the main office. If students finish early we will allow them to call home. Remote students that receive accommodations will be put in groups according to accommodations. Most remote students can be picked up at 9:15, for those receiving accommodations, the student will call when they finish the test. Parents/Guardians will need to bring a photo ID and they must be listed on Final Forms. A staff member will be posted to allow you to sign your student out at the Main Entrance.
Please make sure that your child brings his or her headphones/earbuds with him or her to school on the days of OST. Some parts of the test may require students to listen to a short clip or directions. We do not have enough to give every student.
It is very important that if your child is going to be absent during testing, please make sure to inform the main office as well as our school counselors, Mrs. Hunt (6th grade) or Mr. Stratton (7th and 8th grade), so that we can make arrangements to test him or her on another day. You can reach Mrs. Hunt at tara.hunt@edgewoodschools.net and Mr. Stratton at chris.stratton@edgewoodschools.net or (513) 867-3450.
