Before the last day of school, our EES 2nd Graders were provided with a unique experience that connected the economics unit of study to local resources while reinforcing the importance of creating relationships between our school and community.
The students began at Whit's Frozen Custard learning about custard and the resources needed to produce this product. They finished their visit by creating their own cup of custard with toppings. Students then moved to Skyline for a project-based learning experience where the students worked together in small groups to create an ice cream or custard shop and a new flavor to showcase. All projects were taken back to EES where the staff voted on the projects. The winning team (featured in the photo above) was from Mrs. Wilkes class. Whit's continued to show their Cougar Pride by allowing the winning group to hang their poster in the store this summer along with giving gift cards to the winning team. We truly appreciate the opportunity for learning, creating, and partnering with Whit's, where two of the owners are Edgewood Alumni!
