Yamaha Honors Two Cincinnati-Area Educators in its Fourth Annual 40 Under 40 Music Program
BUENA PARK, Calif. (February XX, 2024) — For the fourth year, Yamaha has selected 40 exceptional music educators under 40. Nicholas Fields and Kyle Phillips are two honorees possessing action, courage, creativity, and growth while going above and beyond when instructing music programs. The 40 Under 40 music education program honors music educators at all grade levels.
Fields is the Band Director for Edgewood City Schools in Trenton. “I was shocked and humbled that people thought I was deserving of such an award.”
Phillips is the Band Director for Princeton High School in Cincinnati. “Honestly, I could not have been more shocked. After applying, I looked at the former award winners and thought, “Oh these are for real music teachers- there’s no way I’ll win this”. I am so grateful to those who nominated me for this award- I don’t hold any glory for myself, so the fact that I was nominated (let alone a recipient) of this award will always be a highlight of my career.”
Hundreds of nominations were submitted by students, parents, teachers, and local instrument dealers and mentors, highlighting the music educators who positively impacted their community and students.
“Despite the headwinds educators have, music educators are undertaking some of the most innovative, creative, and impactful programs to make a difference in strengthening and encouraging arts education nationwide," said Heather Mansell, marketing manager, education group at Yamaha Corporation of America. "Yamaha shares the same commitment to high-quality, well-rounded music education for all, and we look forward to supporting and encouraging the efforts of these 40 outstanding educators and the thousands more like them across the country."
