As part of our continued efforts to be prepared in case of an emergency situation, members of our District Safety Team took part in a Stop the Bleed training on November 14. Staff members from each school, as well from our Technology, Food Service, Transportation, and the Board Office teams attended the training. All the participants were provided with critical information as well as participated in hands-on training from a certified trainer from UC Health Center.
Our building Principals, Health Specialists, School Nurse, and several Administrators attending a Stop the Bleed training earlier this year. Likewise, all our SROs are trained. At this time, Edgewood now has more than 30 individuals trained on how to Stop the Bleed.
It's important for everyone to be aware that Bleeding Control Kits are installed in every building throughout the district. These kits are mounted along side the AED (automated external defibrillator) units which are placed in high traffic areas. The Bleeding Control Kits are in a red bag labeled "First Responder". All of this life-saving equipment is accessible for anyone to use in case an emergency.
