Below you will find today's Tuesday's Tip submitted by Alesia Beckett, Director of Human Resources. I recently read an article entitled, “47 Tips of Highly Successful Employees,” by The Muse Editors, and it struck me how many of these tips apply to success as a student, parent, and spouse.  I’m sharing 10 of these tips for you to consider. I hope these tips inspire you today!! Successful Employees: Commit to Learning–The most successful people always learn something new.  Give People Their Full Attention–Listening is one of the top skills employers seek.    Show Up on Time–Successful people never miss out because they have a front-row seat.    Pitch In–Pitching in puts you right where the action is.  Solve Problems–Being a problem solver shows that you care.  Steer Clear of Gossip–Successful people look for solutions, not an audience.  Pay Attention to Body Language–93% of what we say is not spoken with words.  Don’t Worry About Perfection–Successful people try new things and are willing to learn and grow. Own Up to Their Mistakes–Successful people apologize, fix the mistake, and ensure it never happens again. Are Not Afraid to Ask for Help–Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Tuesday’s Tip - Finance Department The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission awarded Edgewood City School District $100,000 for each of the five school buildings to be used to improve safety. These funds are/were used for the installation of safety film for all lower-level glass windows, ballards, cameras, radios, and a GPS system for school buses. On behalf of the Edgewood City School District, we extend our appreciation for the Ohio Grants Partnership that afforded us the opportunity to improve safety in our facilities.

Last week, while preparing for our students to return to school on January 8th, Edgewood employees participated in a variety of professional learning opportunities. Thursday provided a variety of student-focused learning at the building level. Friday the Curriculum Summit returned to Edgewood offering a variety of learning options for staff that ranged from relationships, wellness, CPR, and trauma-informed care to data analysis, technology, and instructional strategies. Superintendent Spivey welcomed everyone to the event helping them to reconnect with their passion for education. Forty-eight topics were presented by Edgewood staff and community partners in education. We appreciate all those who took the time to provide these rich learning opportunities to our staff and those who organized and volunteered their time for the event. Thank you to our families for understanding how valuable this professional learning is for our staff and students.
